The Qualification:

With the support of your full-time employer, you will enroll and become qualified with a New Zealand Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 4) with strand in Plant and Equipment, provided by MITO. This is a 2 - 4 year qualification.

You will join a team of experienced technicians and be part of structured, industry relevant training that will provide you with on the job learning experiences including practical assessments and theory-based training.

The opportunity:
We currently have an opening for a 1st year apprentice to begin their journey. You might be a school leaver, have already completed an Automotive pre-trade course, or looking to retrain.

We ideally look for:

  • Proof you are keen on this as a career such as completion of an Automotive pre-trade course (or are halfway through), or have obtained voluntary or paid experience working on or around mechanical equipment
  • A minimum of three years secondary school education, having achieved good results in English and Math at NCEA Level 2
  • Full Class 1 driving license (unless age prevents that)
  • People with enthusiasm and energy coupled with a willingness to learn and get stuck in
  • People who respect Health and Safety procedures
  • Strong work ethic including being committed to bookwork and fulfilling all course requirements
  • A great sense of humour, able to get on well with customers and staff
  • Someone who demonstrates great customer service and a genuine desire to become a Heavy Diesel mechanic
