Deputy Prime Minister, David Seymour, visits TDX Christchurch

The Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon David Seymour and local ACT Member of Parliament, Laura McClure, took time out while in Christchurch to visit the TDX team at their head office in Christchurch this morning.

David and his team were welcomed onsite by CEO Greg Slaughter, Founder and Director Alister McLaughlin and Director Mike McKessar.

The TDX team hosted David for approximately one hour. The visit started in the Volvo Demo Zone, a dedicated area TDX uses to test and demonstrate new Volvo machines and equipment to customers.

Mr Seymour received an overview of the New Generation of Volvo machines, including the Volvo F Series EC300 Excavator and the soon-to-be-launched Volvo K Series Loader. Also showcased was the Volvo Electric JL120 loader, with TDX setting the global pace in adoption. New Zealand customers,  including Permapine, Waste Management, Fulton Hogan and HWR, have recently added this fully electric machine to their fleets.

The demo experience for the Deputy Prime Minister concluded when he was invited by Andrew Falloon, Volvo Product Manager, to join him for a lap of the Demo Zone in the Volvo A45 Articulated Dump Truck, a powerhouse of a dump truck used by many quarries and mines around New Zealand.

Following the session in the Demo Zone, David joined the TDX team for morning tea consisting of good old kiwi savouries, club sandwiches and slices. The visit concluded with David giving a brief chat on his thoughts on the economy and the work the government is doing for the industries for which TDX operate such as construction, quarry, mining, fleet transport and forestry.

TDX CEO Greg Slaughter was very complimentary of David’s visit. “It’s great to have the Deputy Prime Minister take time out of his      schedule to come visit us, TDX and understand our business.

“I think the staff enjoyed having David here and learning more about what’s happening, some of the challenges the government is facing and their plans for the future.”

David was equally impressed with the work that TDX was doing across New Zealand.
