The future of wheel loader performance has arrived in New Zealand, with TDX officially launching Volvo Construction Equipment’s new generation K-Series Wheel Loader range featuring enhanced technology, engineering and innovation.
The new generation Volvo wheel loaders build on more than 70 years of Volvo innovation in wheel loader technology. The initial launch includes five models ranging from the L150 through to the flagship L260, with the L150, L180, L200 High Lift, L220 and L260 all receiving major updates focused on productivity, efficiency, safety and operator comfort.
TDX Volvo Product Manager Andrew Falloon said the new generation machines represent one of the most significant developments in Volvo wheel loader technology in recent years.“The K Series represents a major evolution of the Volvo wheel loader platform,” said Mr Falloon.

At the heart of the new range is a suite of technologies designed to maximise productivity and reduce operating costs. New generation load sensing hydraulics deliver faster cycle times by improving attachment responsiveness and increasing boom lift and lowering speeds. The intelligent Auto Bucket Fill function helps operators achieve consistent bucket filling, while automatic bucket levelling returns the bucket to the optimum position from both dump and curl positions, improving efficiency and reducing operator workload.
The updated Smart Control system also ensures the fuel-efficient engine mode activates by default when the machine starts, helping reduce fuel consumption without compromising performance. The machines are also compatible with Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil (HVO), providing customers with additional options to reduce their environmental impact.
The new Volvo wheel loaders continue to feature an entirely Volvo powertrain, combining the engine, transmission, axles and hydraulics to deliver smooth, efficient performance. Volvo’s OptiShift technology and patented Reverse By Braking system help reduce cycle times, improve drivability and extend component life.The operator environment has also received a significant upgrade, reinforcing Volvo’s reputation for building some of the most comfortable and quietest cabs in the industry.
The latest Volvo Co-Pilot system provides operators with improved access to key machine functions through an intuitive display, while the updated cab design introduces enhanced storage, improved armrests, USB charging options and additional seating choices, including premium seats with heating and cooling capability. Optional Comfort Drive Control allows operators to steer using a single ergonomic lever, reducing physical effort and fatigue during long operating shifts.
Safety remains a major focus of the new generation range, with enhanced visibility, improved lighting and new technology designed to protect operators and those working around the machine. Optional Volvo Smart View provides a 360-degree view of the machine’s surroundings through Volvo Co-Pilot, while the updated Collision Mitigation System detects obstacles when reversing at speeds as low as 0.5km/h.
